Terms & Conditions
These are the terms on which we accept watches for service. We have tried to write them plainly. If anything is unclear, please ask before leaving a watch with us.
Last updated: 1 January 2025
1. About us
Tawan Watchcraft operates as a watch repair and servicing workshop at 309 Sukhumvit Road, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110, Thailand. References in these terms to "we", "us", or "the workshop" mean Tawan Watchcraft. References to "you" mean the person who brings or sends a watch to us for assessment or service.
2. Enquiries and assessments
Sending a message through our website or telephoning us does not create a service agreement. A service agreement begins only when we have examined the watch, provided a written estimate, and received your written or verbal acceptance of that estimate.
Initial assessments are carried out at no charge. We will explain what we find and what we suggest before any work is authorised. You are under no obligation to proceed after an assessment.
3. Estimates and pricing
We provide written estimates before starting work. An estimate reflects our understanding of the work required at the time of assessment. If, during the course of service, we discover additional issues that were not visible at assessment, we will pause, explain what we have found, and ask how you would like us to proceed.
Prices shown on this website are indicative starting points for each service tier and exclude parts. Final pricing depends on the specific condition of the watch and any additional components required. We will not charge more than the agreed estimate without your approval.
Current service tiers for reference:
- Light Service & Check-up — from ฿7,000
- Strap, Crown & Seal Care — from ฿10,600
- Complete Care Restoration — from ฿13,600
4. Turnaround times
We give an estimated completion window for each piece at the time of acceptance. These are estimates, not commitments. Watch servicing can reveal unexpected conditions, and we prefer to take additional time rather than rush work that deserves care.
If we expect a significant delay beyond the original estimate, we will contact you to explain and discuss how you would like us to proceed.
5. Your responsibilities
When leaving a watch with us, please:
- Tell us honestly about the watch's history as far as you know it — previous repairs, drops, exposure to water, or other relevant events.
- Ensure you have the right to authorise work on the watch (for example, that it is your property or you are acting with the owner's permission).
- Provide contact details that you check regularly, so we can reach you if questions arise during service.
6. Collection and storage
When a service is complete, we will contact you to arrange collection. We ask that watches are collected within 30 days of that notification. We will store the watch safely at no charge for up to 60 days from the notification date.
Beyond 60 days, and after reasonable further attempts to contact you, we may charge a modest storage fee. We will always write to you before doing so. In the rare event that a watch is left unclaimed for more than 12 months and all attempts to contact you have failed, we will take steps in accordance with applicable Thai law.
7. Payment
Payment is due on collection of the watch. We accept cash in Thai Baht and bank transfer. We will provide a receipt for all payments. Where parts have been ordered specifically for a job, we may ask for a deposit in advance; we will explain this clearly before ordering.
8. Our liability
We take care of every watch entrusted to us. We work with appropriate tools and follow sound horological practice. That said, older or heavily worn watches occasionally reveal hidden fragility during disassembly or cleaning that could not have been anticipated. We will always tell you if this occurs and discuss the options with you.
Our liability for any loss or damage arising from work we carry out is limited to the agreed cost of the service. We are not responsible for any consequential or indirect losses, or for the sentimental value of a piece, beyond this amount.
We carry appropriate insurance for goods in our care, and we keep the workshop secure. If you have particular concerns about the value of a watch, please discuss these with us before leaving it.
9. Water resistance
Where a service includes water resistance testing, results are valid at the time of testing only. Water resistance can be affected by subsequent impacts, strap changes, crown operation, and normal wear. We do not warrant ongoing water resistance after collection.
10. Modifications and parts
We use appropriate quality parts, which may be original manufacturer parts, compatible quality alternatives, or, in the case of vintage watches, period-correct or best-available equivalents. We will tell you what we intend to use before work begins.
We do not carry out modifications that, in our view, would reduce the safety, function, or integrity of a watch. We may decline work that we are not equipped to carry out to an appropriate standard.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally between us will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Thailand.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to a service are those in place on the date we accept the watch. Current terms are always available on this page.
13. Contact
If you have any question about these terms, please speak with us before leaving a watch or proceeding with a service.
